When: 2pm-5pm, Saturday 21st March 2026
Tickets: Free ticket required
Who: People new to live coding music + interested in our live coding group residency
A free Sheffield Pattern Club workshop on live coding music with TidalCycles (known as Tidal for short), for beginners! This workshop is for people who are interested in applying to our group residency for live coders, but who don’t yet have experience with live coding music.
We’ll introduce you to the basics of the Tidal live coding environment, and share some of the things that make us love it so much. By the end you should know whether it’s for you. We will also be happy to answer questions about the open call.
You’ll need to bring a laptop, preferably with tidalcycles already installed and running. If you have trouble installing don’t worry – we’ll spend the first hour sorting out any issues you have. (If it installs smoothly for you, you can arrive at 3pm 🙂 )
Lead by local live coders Ray Morrison (aka eye measure), Lucy Cheesman (aka Heavy Lifting) and Alex McLean (aka yaxu).Attendees are expected to read and respect our code of conduct: https://patternclub.org/code-of-conduct/.
